I have been informed by a dealer that my front and rear wheels are out of alignment, with my front wheels toeing in and my rear wheels pointing out. When I spoke to the dealer about this problem he claimed it was a maintenance item. I brought the car to this dealer twice for the noise that was emitting thinking it was a bearing or another problem, the same dealer informed me that it was simply tire wear, but they never told me why. The car just turned 17K and this noise has been getting louder each year since I bought the car in April of 06. Has anyone else had this problem with their C6 and should this be covered under the warranty as this car has not been beaten up with high speed cornering or other driving that would cause this misalignment.
is your car still in warranty??
it should be covered, no matter what you should have it aligned, it will make the car
handle the road better and won't wear out your tires.
Probably too late to get a warranty coverage for alignment after driving it for two years; but get it done by a good independent alignment shop before you do anything else. It's a fact of life that most new Corvettes are not aligned very well by the factory and you dont usually find out until your tires develop weird wear patterns like scrubbing off the inside edges.
Even if the alignment is within factory specs, the setup can still be too aggressive for street driving, especially on Z06's.
To get acceptable wear, you need to tell the shop to make sure the front camber is not over about 1/8 degree negative, and toe-in should be close to zero.
