Tuning is beneficial but not required. At cruise you will still run cooler with the 160 stat. In traffic or idling you need the fan reprogramed to see lower coolant temps. The predator might meet your needs , then you can adjust to suit , log data, read and clear codes........
A tune will help. 90 bucks really isnt anything. If they do a full tune you should gain about 20 horse power but it will run you between 300-500 dollars for a good one. In my opinion a tune is worth the money.
hey guys i have talked to the person from random shop and he said if i reprogram the computer on my car it will get rid of the warrantee from gm ...

yes if you have a major break they will try to get out of it, because you tuned it

GM will try to get out of doing the repairs under warranty, however unless the replacement of the thermostat had some direct connection to the failure they will usually overlook it!!!
it is also good to meet the Vette Tech at your dealership and ask him if he would have a problem with it. Most are into the Vettes as much as we are and tend to overlook things like headers/intakes/cai/tunes if you have a relationship with them.

Seems to me that adding a supercharger/tubo/cam/headers that any of those would just outright scream to void your warranty.
But a simple tune? Seems its 50/50 whether a GM stealership will honor warranty work from a recalibrating the computer.
That's why I'm going to have my Z dyno'd and tuned with MTI Racing out of Atlanta (they're local for me), they also are a GM warranty repair center. Unless I have some kind of catastrophic failure like a blown engine from something I probably shouldnt have been doing in the first place to risk the warranty (like drag racing), I'm HOPING that if they're the ones who dyno'd/tuned the car that they'd be more willing to fix it under warranty should I have any problems.
Surely there's some Gm certified tuners in the Houston area?
I dynoed my 08 and have the Vararam CAI. The car dynoed 380rwhp and 372ft-lbs. After tuning my own car, ended the day at 392 rwhp and 386 ft-lbs. I am still using the stock thermostat and stock exhaust.
