Default 07 C6 will not stop dinging.

The dealership is having so many problems trying to figure out this issue. As, I was hoping somone on here was or has experienced the same problem.

Driving down the road the car will ding, it gives no error messages or throws any codes. All of the blinker lights are good as this is what I thought was going on. Everything seems to check out. If the delarship flashes the ECU will this more than likely solve the problem?

Thank you for your time.

Yeah tell me about it. Even worse it's not consistent, randomly dings in chunks then quits. Bad enough, makes me want to write "bang head here" on my steering wheel.

Similar problem with my one week old 09.

Dings once in a while when I open the drivers door. Stops when the door is closed or engine started. Hoping I don't have something that can't be fixed.

I'm not sure it's not just me as I try and get used to things.

How do I disable the auto headlights from coming on every time the car is started in a garage? I hate that.

How do I stop the car from unlocking itself when I approach with the fob? I turned off the passive locking but passive unlocking won't stop.

How do I stop the car from locking itself when I start moving the car? I hate that.

The easiest way is to turn on the parking lights before you start it. The headlights will not turn on. Once you're out, and the dash brightens up, turn it back to auto.

Something (your knee?) may be bumping the door-lock switch. Perhaps the door trim is pushing it around, or the button is defective. You can test this possibility by attempting to open the door before and after the random beeps.

Could be lots of things. Somewhere there is a switch or button that isn't all the way off, or at least the car doesn't think so.

I experienced "mystery dinging" on my last long trip. After 10 hours on the road it started for no apparent reason, not even bumpy. I wiggled lots of things around, turned things on/off and eventually the dinging stopped. Hasn't returned in 6 months. The air temps were high and I just figured some switch wasn't quite disengaging due to the heat. Just my experience.

READ your manual, all these things can be turned off from the cluster menu. Well except the headlights

Just to make sure dealer checked it, I would go in the cluster menu and turn everything off. Make sure speed warning is off.

When these audible warnings are happening, is there anything in the passenger seat? The passenger seat has a sensor that lets the car know if someone is sitting there or not. This determines whether to turn on the passenger air bag, and too give an audible warning if the passenger has not put their seat belt on.

The information below is from the service manual and may help to narrow down what is causing the warning. Next time it does it, count the number of dings in, say, 5 seconds and multiply by 12. This will at least tell you the priority of whatever is causing it.

Audible Warnings Description and Operation

The audible warnings alert the driver of a system concern or a critical vehicle condition. The radio generates the audible warnings through the left front speaker. The radio receives audible warning requests via the class 2 serial data line. If the radio receives multiple audible warning requests, the warning with the highest priority sounds first. The following lists the audible warning priority and the pulse rate:

1. Fast rate chime--200 pulses per minute
2. Medium rate chime--150 pulses per minute
3. Slow rate chime--50 pulses per minute
4. Single chime

Fasten Safety Belt Warning

The radio activates the fasten safety belt audible warning as requested by the dash integration module (DIM). The DIM sends a class 2 message to the radio indicating the chime frequency at a slow rate and a duration of 8 seconds. The fasten safety belt warning sounds and the fasten safety belt indicator illuminates when the following occurs:

* The ignition switch transitions to ON.
* The inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) detects that the drivers seat belt is not buckled and the signal is low. The SDM sends a class 2 message to the DIM indicating the seat belt status. The instrument panel (IPC) receives a class 2 message from the DIM indicating the driver seat belt status.

If the seat belt is buckled when the ignition is turned on, the chime does not sound. If the seat belt is buckled while the chime is sounding, the chime stops. If the seat belt is unbuckled after the initial transition to ON, the chime does not sound.

Lights On Warning

The radio activates the lights on warning as requested by the dash integration module (DIM). The DIM sends a class 2 message to the radio indicating the chime frequency of a fast rate and at a continuous duration. The lights on warning sounds when the following occurs:

* The ignition is OFF.
* The DIM determines that the driver door is open and the signal circuit is low.
* The DIM determines that the headlamp switch is in the park or head position.

Park Brake Warning

The radio activates the park brake audible warning as requested by the dash integration module (DIM). The DIM sends a class 2 message to the radio indicating the chime frequency of a fast rate and at a continuous duration. The park brake warning sounds and the BRAKE indicator illuminates when the following occurs:

* The ignition is on.
* The vehicle speed is greater than 5 km/h (3.1 mph). The DIM receives a class 2 message from the engine control module (ECM) indicating the vehicle speed.
* The DIM determines that the park brake is engaged and the signal circuit is low.

Additional Warnings

The following warnings have an associated instrument panel cluster (IPC) indicator:

* Change Oil Now

* Change Oil Soon

* Hot Coolant Temperature. The radio activates the audible warning as requested by the dash integration module (DIM). The IPC sends a class 2 message to the radio indicating the chime frequency of a medium rate and at a continuous duration.

* Low Fuel. The radio activates the audible warning as requested by the DIM. The DIM sends a class 2 message to the radio indicating the chime frequency of a medium rate and at a continuous duration.
