Hello all,
I'm Chris Higgins with Borla Performance in Oxnard, CA.
We’re in the process of designing an exhaust system for the new 2009 C6 Corvette w/ optional factory NPP (dual-mode exhaust). And we're looking for a New Product Development Partner who has this Vette, preferably with manual transmission. We would need your car for 1-2 weeks and it will be carefully watched & taken care of while at our shop. Upon completion of our R&D process, you will be presented with a free Borla exhaust system as thanks for your time & effort.
Our facilities are in Oxnard, so we prefer to have a partner from Southern California. If you fit the bill & are interested, please send me a PM and/or email with your name & telephone #. Thanks for the interest & we look forward to developing another great exhaust system for Vette enthusiasts!
Enjoy the weekend & see you all Monday morning,
Chris Higgins

I just want to chime in here.. about 5 months ago I responded to a very similar request from Chris at Borla. Back then they wanted to do some R&D on my new '08.
I leant then my car and they took excellent care of it! Plus they dyno'd my car for free and gave me a free Axle back exhaust of my choice - and then they installed to for free as well!
So, if you're concerned at all about loaning your car out to Borla, have no fear!
Plus, Chris and the tech guys were super friendly and fun to hang with...
Hello all,
I just got word from our R&D team that a 2008 C6 w/factory NPP would also fit the bill. If you have this setup and are interested in partnering with us, please contact me & we’ll provide you with a free custom exhaust system. Thanks again for your interest!
please for the love of all things holy find a car with an automatic transmission and headers from either LG motorsport, kooks, or ARH
there is not only no existing exhaust on the market that does not drone with all of the above
but also there are a lot of us looking specifically for such as setup;
an exhaust setup that:
1. does not drone with LONG TUBE HEADERS on (at ANY rpm, especially 1500-2200 rpm)
2. and does not drone with an automatic transmission (especially at 1500-2200 rpm or anywhere in between, AND with headers)
3. and has some sort of vacuum actuated valve that allows sound volume control
4. and sounds great with ALL OF THE ABOVE (and no drone)
thanks for the time

I have posted previously about the lack of drone on my A6 set up. I have Kooks 1 3/4 headers with the cats, the Corsa H pipe with the long thin cans, made specifically for the A6, and Stingers on the back. I previously had the Xtremes which I was not happy with. Highway cruise with this system is a pleasure, at any speed. After all I have read about the problem here, I can only attribute it to the H pipe. That is the only thing that Corsa adds to any of their A6 systems that is any different. Everything else is exactly the same as any thing they sell for the MN6. Obviously it does not have the vacuum option you mention above, but I think the H tones the whole system down enough to where my wife even thinks it's acceptable.
you can have my ride,,, problem is im in kansas and have an automatic. If you guys come up with something header x pipe etc.. for the auto i'm in on that as well. paul
i would like BORLA to make me an exhaust setup that would work with LG headers supposedly MADE BY BORLA TO NOT DRONE on an automatic car
especially if they are going to come out with a newer revised setup
that AND vacuum actuated valves
besides, there is a good reason why the LG heads would not work with what you're suggesting
btw, i've also thought about just buying a bassani mid section and weld it all together and call it a day, but
the LG headers are slightly longer than all the other other headers out there
which also means that the catalytic converters when placed are going to be after the turn and well into the tunnel section
which is exactly where the corsa H tunnel pipes and the bassani mid section muffler sit also
e.g. conflict of space
so again my request to borla:
1. exhaust that does not drone with LG's "made by borla" headers especially at 1700-2200 rpms
2. on an automatic transmission car
3. with the LG catalytic converters
4. and if possible, vacuum actuated valves
thanks again for the time

That is exactly my point. Why can't Borla take my lead here and think there may be something to this? People here complain all the time about the drone with Borlas on an A6, and I'm telling you this works.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll let our design team know! We are still looking for a C6 w/NPP, either auto or manual. Thanks for your continued interest!

As you are probably aware that the 2008 and 2009 NPP mufflers have different bends in the over axle piping and are different part numbers.
The 2008 C6 NPP mufflers will Not fit on a 2009 C6 and a 2009 C6 npp muffler set will not fit on a 2005-2008 C6. Maybe with a new x-pipe this problem is fixed?

Just a heads up.

Ben,
Thanks for looking out for us! We've already re-engineered our 2009 systems as a result of the OE design change. We want to double check fitments so both the 2008 & 2009 C6 are on our hit list.
Just wanted to give this thread a "bump". We are still looking for a development partner with an '09 NPP. We will offer a free Borla exhaust (and x-pipe) in exchange for the use of your vehicle and we will treat it with the utmost care and respect while it is in our facility. After 30 years of developing Corvette exhaust I can tell you for certain that you will love this process.

If you solve the automatic drone issue it'll probably sound just as good on a manual. Unfortunately, I think the best way to go is with a dual mode exhaust similar to NPP, so it doesn't drone while closed and then straight through while open. I'm seriously considering cutouts if someone doesn't come up with something soon. B&B fusion's drone in both modes on autos and NPP's are too quite when open. First to solve it has a long line of customers waiting.
We have an '09 NPP in our facility and will have prototypes that include our own, exclusive aftermarket valves in the coming weeks. Will keep you posted on the development process.

Also, has anyone heard of an update on this? A dual-mode borla that has the S-type sound, I would think sell VERY well. I'm in the market now and wanted the stinger sound, but the drone has pushed me towards the fusions. Also, the '09s are not at any of the vendors yet and the fusions are. I'd prefer the borla dual-mode at this point, if it exists yet.
Yes where is the follow up. Been two months... I am getting ready to do something and I thought maybe I had stumbled onto something great. Wheres the Beef?
