That is not a direct fit. Even though Optima batteries are sealed, if it is in your car (were you sit) it needs to be vented. The only one that will fit and is vented is the 51R. If the alternator over charges the battery, you have issues, that is why you should use a vented battery.
I have a C6 and two of the guys I work with have Z06 and we put the 51R in the battery well in the back. The 51R is smaller, but do you really need CCA when you only drive the car on nice days.
If you call 1-888-8OPTIMA, ask Daryl to talk to Cam about the installation.
i had my charger on my old battery and boiled big time!!! im looking now for a new battery and want a Good battery, i could get my hands on a new red top 34/78 for $ 150 thats the only reason
I got my Optima red top at Sams Club for $136. According to the book it wasn't the direct replacement I believe it was a 25. I compared the size to the direct replacement in a standard battery. It was within a quarter inch so I tried it. Worked perfectly. Even used the factory battery hold down and everything. Same battery everywhere else was $179.99 so I am happy. Car starts now like it is ready to race. Optima has about 30% more cca and really turns the car over much better. I live in a cold climate so I notice a huge difference.
I see there are a lot of posters who know a lot more about battery's than I do, maybe I can get some good advice.....
I drag race my car almost every weekend (in the summer) When I'm at the track after a run I want to cool it down, I have installed a switch to run the fan with the motor off...
I don't need a lot of CCA as its in a heated garage .... what I need is a battery that will not go dead if I run the fan for 15 min with the motor off, then make a 1/4 mile run.. back to the staging lane and cool it again, I do this usually 6 or 7 times in a day...... so it needs to hold a lot of charge, but I don't need POWER to start it after its in 10 deg. weather all night....
Do I need a RED Top or a YELLOW TOP ?? what is the difference?
Generally, if you run an alternator you should use a red top. If you do not use an alternator and the battery is constantly discharged and later recharged, then you should use a deep cycle yellow top. The disadvantage is the yellow top is more expensive and the warranty is only for one year.

You could compromise and use a marine blue top.
I do use an alternator, the car is used 2 or 3 times a week in nice weather.... Raced during the summer..
I'm using the Braille 15lb battery in my 08 non Z06 and it works perfectly. I relocated the battery to the rear passenger side compartment. The reason I chose this battery is because of the small size. The rear compartment on the 08 non ZO6 is smaller than the prior year because of the On-Star electronics. I didn't want to move the electronics and I didn't want to install the battery on the drivers side. That's the reason for choosing the small Braille battery. I hope this helps you.
