Default Shifter questions

So I have been driving a few Trans Am's for a buddy who is in the market for one. Two of them had aftermarket shifters, one for sure was a Hurst shifter. They felt awesome, very precise, notchy in a good way. My C6 Vette shifter feels like Iam shifting with a rubber stick.

My question is if I install a Hurst or B&M or Breathless shifter in my Vett will it have this same type of feel as the LS1 F bodies I drove? You guys that have installed shifters in your MN6 C6 Vette's what do you think, are they nice and tight now, no more rubber stick feeling or will the Vette never feel nice and tight since the shifter is not mounted right into the tranny like on the F bodies? All replies greatly appreciated!

Also will a used Hurst shifter out of an F body fit into my Vette or are the different part numbers, different shifters all together?

Thanks!
Matt

Dont know if an F body shifter will work in a C6, however you should consider the MGW shifter for your Vette, most members and I agree it is the best. A search will reveal numerous positive reviews on the subject.

I have a Callaway shifter and love it. Very positive engagement, no rattle, very solid. I have had many different cars with different short throw shifters. If I had to do it again, I would get another Callaway shifter.

That being said, I have not tried the MGW shifter.

I do not know if the F-body shifter will work in your car.

The F-Body shifter will not work in the corvette, they are very different in design and function!

The feel of installing an aftermarket shifter in your Vette will feel similar to the f-body you have driven.

We typically sell both the brands you mentioned the hurst and the B&M, they will add a shorter throw, a more notchy feel, and less of the stirring soup feeling you find in stock shifters.

Look for our Black Friday weekend special flyer later today for a very good discount on the B&M short throw shifters! We may even be giving on away!

MGW LTD ! BABY go with the best, first! shouldn't your buddy drive the car if he's looking for one?

They are completely different shifters. The difference between a front transmission shifter (Camaro/Firebird) and a rear transmission single rod shifter (Corvette) is the difference between night and day
