Default Removing Heads - Questions

I'm researching the steps necessary to pull the heads on my LS2 to inspect for damage (due to a timing chain break). There's some good information in a few threads regarding this, but I still have some open questions.

1. Do I need to drain the oil?

2. Do I need to drain the radiator?

3. How does braided hose fuel line coming into the rails disconnect? It appears to be a push in and turn type release?

4. When disconnecting the fuel line do I need to worry about fuel spilling out?

5. When unbolting the headers am I correct in assuming that there should be enough play to remove the heads? (or do I need to get under the car and loosen/disconnect them?)

That's all my questions for now. Once complete, I will be doing a full write up of this with pictures and possibly video.

Yes you need to drain the oil.

Yes you need to drain the radiator.

No need to disconnect the fuel line, pull the injectors out as a whole unit on the fuel rail, wrap them in a towel place a towel on your windshield cowl and flip the entire unit up onto the windshield and the fuel line and rails will be out of the way.

Unbolt the headers from the heads and see if they pull away from the heads but more then likely they will not and you will have to separate the collectors (not sure what headers you are running) from your mid pipes. I believe only Kooks has a ball and socket collector which is much easier then the slip fit collectors.

Good luck and keep us posted.
