Default wheel widening

currently i have the optioned comp grey wheels, my plan is to find another from pair and have them widened. according to spin monster the max width an 18in rim can go is 10.5, now i do have more clearance from the wheel to fender so my plan is to use a 1/2 inch wheel spacer and longer studs to allow me to run an 11inch rim in the rear.

so in the end my wheels will be:

18X8.5 front possibly have the front widened to 9.5 as well (depending on price)
18X11 rear

from there i will probally go with toyo r888 275 fron and 335 rear.

can you guys recomend wheel studs and a 1/2 spacer?

You should be able to go wider in the rear depending on what size/offset the wheels are. What are they?

Whats the offset? Is your car lowered? I run 10.5's and have about 1.25 inches left on the inside. Are these for track only?

I would keep it at 11 if it is proven. Spin knows his stuff. I dont think you will need a tire any wider than a 315/30/18 . Thats what I run on my track wheels on 10.5's. Good luck with it

You cant go by what amount of space is on the inside of the wheel to the wall, you go by what hits the control arm. The 11" will hit the control arm. The 18" is actually out further than the 19" wheel but fits perfectly to the edge of the fender. Any more will hit the fender. The car will not fit anything wider than a 11". The 19 will run a 11.5 sice its diameter will allow it to clear the control arm in use. Both a 18x11 and a 19x11.5 will touch the control arm if the car is fully jacked up but will not touch in use.

Do not clearance the control arm for light touch. It doesnt touch in actual used even when tested on curbes and speed bumps.

Offsets are different for the width of the wheel but dont affect where they are in relation to the fender since offsets take back spacing into account so it cant be quoted that way. All these sizes assume a stock front 18" as the donor wheel.

18x11.5 will not work.

I'm not sure where you got the 10.5" being the max for the rear. I never said that. I run a 18x11 and dont use spacers.

1/2" wheel studs and a spacer will move the tire out to where it will make contact with the fender. The stock 18 on the rear is a few mm closer to the fender and cant use a spacer. If you use the 11" wheel with a 315 or 335 it will contact the fender due to tire bulge. A 305 is the correct 11" wheel tire size.

My 19X11 widened rear does contact the control arm. I did slight clearancing of the arm due to the fact that at full unload of the suspension (something that does happen in the events I run), there is contact.

It required very little clearancing, but I did have to do it.

I don't have direct experience with a 19X11.5" rear, but reasoning would indicate to me that the rubbing of the rim on the control arm would be present, and likely more present than with my current 11" widened OEM rim.

The 325mm rubber (stock Z06 rear tire) just baaaaaaaarely contacts the inner fender well. I removed a section on the inner fender liner, but then added self-adhesive sound deadening material (which is flush to the body, and pretty thin), and I get just a trace of tire rub- I've never heard it make contact, but the marks are there.

Again, if you're not going airborne, you may not encounter these issues.
