Default A/C Problems

I have an 05 Vette with an A/C problem that started a few months back.

The first thing is the recycle air button doesn't do anything when you push it, it lights up on the button but doesn't make any change in the temp or pressure of the air coming from the vents.

The second issue is that the climate controller works fine until you set the fan speed past 5 bars on the controller. Once you have it past 5 bars it no longer blows any harder nor can you any longer change the fan speeds. Sure the bars on the controller move up and down when attempting to change speeds but it doesn't actually control anything.

You can turn off the A/C but when you turn it back on it is still blowing as hard as it was when you turned it off. The only way to gain somewhat control of the A/C it to power off the car and restart.

I have purchased a new climate controller from another forum member to see if replacing the controller would work but to no avail. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Default Try disconnecting battery

Did you mean you disconnected the battery when you said you powered down or just turned the ignition off. I would try disconnecting the battery just to see it something resets in the computer when it's disconnected.
It probably won't help but it doesn't take much work to try.

Would the filter being cleaned fix the uncontrolable climate controller or the recycle air problem?

My A/C still blows cold just not as hard as it should and I lose control of the fan speeds when I go past 5 bars.

Either way I will be checking that filter first thing in the morning. Thanks for the input!

I usually just turn off the car, but I have tried unhooking the battery but it didn't help.

For me it fixed the recycle air problem. If it's real clogged who knows how freaked out the controller might get, crazy electronics!

I pulled the filter and it was completely dirty. I have since cleaned it but it did not correct any of the issues I am having. Does anyone have any other thoughts what could be causing these issues or how I should go about fixing them?

Thanks in advance,

Jim

That sucks that it did not fix re-cycle problem. When I had issues, whaen i pushed the re-cycle button it would come on for a few seconds and turn off. Filter cleaning fixed it. I have no other thoughts that could help.

Thanks for the heads up on the filter. I would have never known that was there. I was extremely happy to find it as dirty as it was hoping once it was cleaned it would fix my issues. I guess I will just have to bring it to the shop and hope that it's a reasonable fix.

Thanks again

Two things could be effecting this ............

The Blower Motor Control Processer - Right side of the blower motor. Has three wires - Black, Gray/Black, Red/Black - pretty much an electronic blower resistor.

Or

You could try having the HVAC reprogrammed.
