Default Just how strong is the A6 Automatic

I have recently done a HOD event in an automatic, really enjoyed the paddle shift car, does anyone have any experience tracking an 08 or 09 Automatic, hate to blow the trans after 2 or 3 track days. Just how strong is the automatic in general?

Good question, it seems to be hit or miss around 500rwhp but for tracking them, I have no idea.

100%

I would be sure to have the largest, most efficient auxiliary trans cooler that could fit hooked up to it before doing any serious road course events, especially during the warmer/summer months.

The guys are right about transmission temps. We recomend the B&M 70297 cooler. It has a fan attached to it as well. Try and keep the transmission temps under 180 degrees. This will keep the transmission life to a maximum.

It would be interesting to know if the A6 cars at Spring Mountain have had any issues. They get driven pretty hard (at least the one I was driving).

I lost my trans in my 08 (no warranty) after less than 4000 miles. I was running a 2800 stall with 3:15 gears then. I am running a 3800 stall now. Putting around 480 rear wheel. My trans temps were 225 or higher then. I had LG install a trans cooler and a larger LG radiator when they had the trans rebuilt to much better standards (RPM). My trans temps now track with the engine temps once warmed up which are around 180-190 and sometime's lower on a drive down the interstate. My radiator fan rarely comes on.
As long as you don't modify the car your warranty will cover it for 100,000 miles.

My A6 car went in the shop today for a supercharger install so Im real curious about your situation. Were you racing your car? Drag or road? Is your car a Z51 with the factory cooler? Which cooler did LG install? Thanks for any help.

Z51, not sure which cooler but it fits in front of the rt ft tire up in the fender. Very nice job of mounting. I took a drive today, 40 miles, and the trans temp never got up over 122. 122 is correct not 222. Call Bobby or Anthony and they can fix you up. Just tell them about my install, they will know.

No pics but LG took some. No ideal where they went into the lines at. Very clean install. The cooler lays flat. As soon as I get a chance I will take some pics.

Thanks, Im going to check the LG site right now.

I just checked. The only one they have listed is a diff/trans combo cooler package. It lists for over $3900! Thats alot of cake! Is that what you have?
