I was about to order replacement (stock) horns, but before I drop $100+ it occurred to me I should ask in here first. Here's the story:
The horns in my '09 Z stop working. All at once, and completely. No previous symptoms. We checked the power to the horns and it's fine. We took the horns off, removed the wiring harness that joins them together, and tried applying 12 volts directly to the posts on each one. Dead. Silence.
Am I missing something? It would certainly seem to me that if you apply 12v to the horns they should sound. OTOH, it's very weird that they would both just fail at the same time.
I think it may be a common problem, cause mine went out too on my 2006 Coupe. I've heard of others. I installed a cheap set from JC Whitnet. I don't use them anyway, just need them to pass inspection.
My horns croaked too after relocating them for a Maggie install. They got water in em washing the car, now they are barely auditible. May have to relocate em under the hood, but not a priority right now. Dealer did say they would replace them, but without a relocate would get the same results.
