I too had my Z06 rotors Zinc plated and yes they do look almost as good as if they were chromed.
I did have one problem though. There was only one plater in my area and they only did larger industrial pieces. They spent several days moving the rotors around their electrodes to try to get full coverage.
The insides of the rotors (the vanes in between the plates) were not plated. This is the part of the rotor that rusts and then throws rusty water onto your freshly washed wheels.
I ended up using VHT aluminum/silver paint to coat the insides of the rotors and that finished the job.
The lesson- choose your plater carefully. And make sure they don't do the chromate process that makes the zinc plating yellow.
If I was to do this again I would go with aftermarket rotors. Forum Vendor Jimmy P. at Atomic Autosports in Florida is a great source for this.

can't go wrong with the baer two piece eradispeed rotors. black powercoated aluminum hubs, zinc plated fire ring. lifetime warranty against warpage.
I've had great luck on my C5 buying new GM rotors and painting them with clear high temp wheel paint from a parts store, even on track days the paint didn't flake off and the rotors never rusted. It's a cheap option that worked well.
We played around with this about 5 years ago and did not have good results. They look great in the beginning but it does not last. It will eventually corrode from the inside out and it leaves a white streak in the plating that can't be removed. Since then I always paint them with a high heat paint.
Thanks to all for the information, its been very helpful. I can't find a plater that wants to do a low volume job so I will try the high heat paint option.
