I don't know how technical of a question this is but here goes!
I opened my glove box to retrieve the owners manual and I closed it not knowing how long I was going to have the manual out!
The door closed but the latch seem to be half open, but it was hung up, so I pulled to try to open it. The latch handle snapped like a week old dry chicken bone.
By now you might have guessed that I no longer have a latch handle nor will the door open.
Does anybody have any Idea how the door assembly is held in place? It does not seem to have any exposed phillips screws or anything to indicate what holds this marvelous piece of engineering in place.
Damn, mine just broke. I went to open the glove box and the handle snapped in half. I barely pulled on it and it broke in two. Oh well, time to visit the dealer.

Thanks
hope you have warranty. this latch is cheap plastic. it is replaceable. you have torx screws in the lid that need to be removed. save your spring on latch you will use it over. go to the dealer and order latch. it costs about $31.00 yup that's not a typo. good luck
I've seen quite a few threads on this, and other, forums concerning the C6 glove box latches breaking. I try not to use mine very often, which iis really ridiculous. How hard would it have been to design a simple glove box latch that wasn't prone to failure? The only other car I have any experience with with a similar frailty where the 01-04 KIAs. The outside door handles were always breaking (I know because I painted dozens of them for dealers under warranty.) You would think you should be able to expect more from GM's flagship car I saw today where General Motors laid off another 2,000 employees, with more cuts expected.
After mine (2007) recently broke in my hand I found latch not in stock at local Pompano Bch Fl Stealer pts dept. Said I had to come in, pay in advance and they would order. Would not take credit card over phone, could not order off their site online. Matter of fact, they didn't even reply after 4 days to my email parts request. Of course then yet another trip there to pick it up would be needed so. Plan B. Made use of some two part LocTight Plastic Bonder on my shelf. Took 3 separate gluing procedures but I'm betting this thing is now a lot stronger then it originally was.
