I am young and still learning so bare with me if this is a bad question. I am aware that if you supercharge a car you often use an intercooler to cool the air that is entering the cylinders. can you put an intercooler in an engine without a supercharger to increase hp?? obviously i'm looking to make some more hp gains without FI

It doesn't work like that. The reason an intercooler is used for forced induction is because when you compess air, you heat it up. Passing the air through an intercooler after compression helps to cool the charge which enhances performance. Without forced induction you really have no use for an intercooler. Posting in the FI forum will get you better answers in the future.

Well.....although an intercooler is only used FI, on an NA car you can still cool the intake air - that's exactly what a CAI (Cold Air Intake does).

The C6 takes the intake air primarily from inside the engine compartment. A CAI Vararam, Callaway Honker, etc. brings in outside air which should be cooler and help with performance.

Some even use NOS or CO2 system in front of the CAI to cool the charge. like the coils the A/C uses to pass the air by so it is cool. Haven't seen any dyno charts for results though

I've seen intercoolers cooled by NOS or CO2, but never a CAI.

but that is something that comes in bursts i assume. of course here i am trying to get more out of the engine, when i can't get what i have to hook in the first place.
