Someone Mention Cutting the shrowd? what shrowd are you talking about, because when I installed mine I made not cutts? Is there something I need to Cutt?
Its called a "shroud" and made to bridge the gap between the car frame and the radiator, to help guide air through the radiator, rather than up and around it. In the C6, closed cold air intakes like the Honker, you cut a piece out of the shroud plastic and that is where the new filter fits snugly in and where cold air comes in.
On an Airaid for example, which is not a closed cold air intake, some folks still cut a hole in it to allow some colder outside air to enter the intake, rather than completely from warm air under the hood. It is optional to do that and not required on warm air intakes like the K&N and Airaid.
You can also just "prop open" the bottom of the shroud and get cold air that way, rather than cutting the shroud. This is known as the "free air mod". See below for more info:
