I had the vortex air filter installed about 6 months ago. Took the vette up to a certain high speed and the check engine light came on. Took it to the dealer and they advised it was the aftermarket air filter causing the engine light to come on (Code 174). They cleared out the code, but the problem resurfaced again. Called the installer, who races and specializes in vettes, who advised I should not be having any problems, but bring it in so they can look at it. My ?? is, has anybody else on this forum experienced similar problems w/ aftermarket air filters?
Code 174 is a MAF issue. Make sure the coupler is secure all the way around the throttle body. Maybe it worked loose. Unless the filter is filthy, I doubt that is the problem which the dealer told you. Folks have K&N's etc. on '07's with no issues.

Thanks. The filter is brand new. I'll give it a look see!!!
Had vortex on my 05 for several months before the car was tuned. Never had any problems.
I didn't have any problems either until I reached a certain speed. I am taking it back to the installer to make sure everthing is sealed properly on it. Thanks!!

I have Zero problems with the BPP Vortex. At any speed. Never a code and Iv'e had it over 160mph.
I had the same problem with the one I had on my 99. They're basically the same on a LS2 or LS3. The check engine light would come one & I took it to the dealer's tech who works on my car. He checked everything on the computer & nothing showed up. He was stumped. However, I had had the filter cleaned about 3 weeks before by the guy who originally installed it. Opon closer inspection the Power Duct connects to the MAF and has another connection to the unit box. These connections have an arrow on them. Mine was installed backwards. We turned it around and never had a problem again. However, I put a Vararam on my C6. Check it out & good luck.
