Tire ?
1. Thoughts on the PS2 Zp's ( littlle more $$ I know)
2. Thoughts on the firestone wide oval's runflats? ( Much cheaper which worrries me a little about quality)
3. I still have some tread on the rears , the fronts are actually worse than than the back(
) so i would want to change the fronts first? wait and wear the backs some more? think there would be any issues with running 2 different tires on the front than the rear? I.e. different tread patterns? Think it would be ok! but just making sure? Thanks!
The Firestones seem to have a well deserved following because they ARE RF, smooth riding, more quiet, and lower cost. Name brand tire, shouldn't need to worry about quality.
I just changed from half worn GY's to Kumho Ecsta SPT (non RF) and they are more quiet and seem more smooth. But if my old GY's had a fresh balance how more smooth would they have been? So it is all subjective and biased by RF vs non RF opinions. I like the low cost and they do dampen bumps better than the GY's ever did. How much? Not much. It is NOT a night and day difference. I am happy I did the change. I also have a can of Fix-a-flat in my cubby. Please note that the Conti kit is also an option for the possible (probable?) flat, but you need to take out the valve stem, pour in the goo, replace the stem and then plug in the 12V compressor to get up and going. THEN you still have the issue of having your tire shop clean out the tire to get a good and proper fix done. I do not own stock in Shell Corp, but their inflato-can stuff is sensor safe so I'm going to use it when it is needed. BTW, it also requires the above mentioned cleaning.
Good luck with your request and I'm sure you will get many answers as well as many suggestions to do a search!

On putting on new fronts and not backs. An old racer told us (on another forum) you always want your best tires on the rear even if it is a front wheel drive car. You never, ever want to loose traction on the rear first! EVER!
Putting new tires on the front with little or no tread on the rear is just asking for trouble especially in the rain.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I priced a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 EM at Carlisle last fall for $1,300 not installed, and a set of Firestone Wide Oval (run flats) for $1,000.
Well, it's good to have a friend that works for Firestone. I ended up getting a set of Firestone Wide Oval for $718.00 mounted and balanced. I couldn't pass up that deal. I know unbelievable. After his quote, I asked my friend several times to make sure they were the correct size and run flats.
I've been pleased with the tires. I can't say that I notice much difference between the Goodyear and the Firestone, but I did have extra money left over to help pay for the new black chrome wheels that I did purchase at Carlisle.
