I know this was a problem for the 05, I was
wondering if any one had this problem on the 07.
The pulley wobbles like crazy, I grabbed a hold
of the pulley and tried to move it, it was solid,
I then reached in to feel the bolt seemed to be tight
I figure the tension of the belt kept the pulley
secure.Anyways its going to the dealer tomorrow,
so any ideas?
whats he gonna do? go in the shop and supervise the mechanic? first there going to see if the pulley is actually wobbling, probably with a straight edge. some owners have nothing better to do then to run out to their cars everytime they read something and stand there watching something for hours{like the unmachined edge of the pulley} and the convince themselves they have a problem, if there is one, they will replace the bolts and retorque with locktite

Nope took about 10 seconds to see the pulley
wobble and watch the track of the belt move side to side
about 1/4 inch.I also had a o5 with this problem and
no wobble from the pulley!
Well, any wobble at all is nothing but a bad sign; either the pulley was weak and has bent or it has spun on the nose of the crankshaft. Hopefully, the nose of your crankshaft is ok, but you won't know until the pulley is removed. If it's ok, I suggest you invest in an underdrive pulley (because you'll probably be replacing that anyway, and it will gain you about 10HP more) and using crankshaft pins from either Magnuson or ARP to prevent crap like that ever happening again. Good luck!
I had my balancer replaced today, it cost a total of $866 including balancer. I had trouble finding a balancer but the local Chevy dealer found one at a dealership on the west coast (I live in Minnesota). No crank damage, it had not turned. My car has 20860 miles on it and out of warranty. I was told by the dealership that GM is not doing any goodwill gestures since Mr Wagoner was fired by the President. My car was one of the 11,400 cars noted in the TSB. Thanks for all you help. It helped me a lot. See you on the streets!
No one has reported the "loose crank pulley bolt" for a long time. Everyone that has their balancer wobbling has reported a problem with a failed flex coupling between the inner and out hub of the balancer. Usually when the belt starts chirping because of the misalignment, the dealer will replace the balancer.
