Default Oil Pressure

2008 427 Special Edition Z06: This morning I noticed after parked in a covered garage, outside temps above 60f, for 10 miles or more my oil pressure gage read 70psi. Normally it ready about 50psi. This happened one other time when I left work after the car sat all day. By the time I reached work today 24miles, the gage read 51psi. I just changed the oil, Mobile One two weeks ago at the dealers. Milage is 5600 miles.
Any idea's?
Bob

I beleive it may be due to lower temps.

I fail to see the problem you are worried about...

Yes, this seems normal. On my '06 Z06, I sometimes hit 80 PSI and maybe slightly pass it when the motor is cold and outside it is approximately 30-40F. Revs around 2-3k RPM. After about 5 minutes of driving, the oil finally warms up and pressure is around 50 PSI.

Had a C6 Z51 it ran at just 45 lbs and idle pressure was at 30lbs. Cold it was at 60 and above. When I put a forged 427 with a high volume pump it ran at 57-60 lbs normal temp and at 100 when it was cold. It different make any difference if I used 10-30 or 15-50 mobil 1. Had to go to 15-50 because of the forged pistons. So I would say your pressure is normal. My 08 Z06 runs at 55-60 lbs at 2000 RPMS, and 80+ when cold. Your fine not to worry.

Hi: The manual talks about min. psi but not max. I thought the temp was a problem also, but for all this time under the factory oil the gage never jumped to over 55psi at 2,000 to 4,000 rpms. Also the temp was 55f to 60f am and 70f pm when the oil psi started out at 88f to 75f. I also checked the digital reading with align with mech. gage. I just know that I did not experience these jumps before and with the engine light staying on waiting for an catalitic converter computer calibration upgrade per GM bull, I have been worried.
Thanks,
Bob
