Default Tire pressure senor reading low

I just mounted my race tires and used my reset tool just like always, however; this time something strange happened. The DIC showed 16lbs on the left front. I measured the tire pressure with my gauge and it was 36lbs. Is this a senor issue or something else. The other 3 tires all read properly. The senor is a little over a year old it has been taken off a couple times. TIA

Did you drive it yet?

I'd say drive it up over 20 mph for a few minutes and then see what the DIC says after the sensors send their data in the "drive" mode.

I agree...give it some drive time. I had a couple tires that were pretty low once the really cold mornings rolled around...filled them to the right pressure, but the DIC didn't show it until after I had driven for a while...I was surprised that the pressure wasn't being sampled more frequently

When the car is parked and sits still for more than 15 minutes the sensors go into a sleep mode and only transmit once per hour to conserve battery life.

When you start driving faster than 20 mph the sensors wake up and start transmitting once per minute (sooner if they detect a large pressure change).

So....yes, if the car has been sitting for a while when you adjust the pressure using your hand held pressure gauge, the DIC may not agree until the sensors wake up after driving for a couple minutes.

I thought the same thing, that I needed to drive the car, so I drove it approximately 5 miles and it was over 20mph and it still reads 16lbs. Could the senor be in a coma or something, I need to wake this **** up I have a HPDE event Saturday and I have no days off to replace it, dunno what I'm going to do at this point. What are my options?

Cloaked: AFAIK, it doesn't really matter if your sensor is screwed up, you can drive with it all day long even if it is totally screwed up. You just have to reset the TPMS every hour or something, right?
No it read low once when the air was low and it came on every few minute I can't have that happening while on the track during a session.

Marc

Did you try doing the relearn process again ??

Take the car up to speed in Comp Mode (I think thats how you run). If it doesn't give you any warnings about reduced power or speed you should be good to go.

OK I will try that but If it gives me the warning message then I'm out. I'm trying to find a place to get a replacement senor but since I work 12hr shifts dunno how I can get this done in time.

No pressure reads 17lbs at after my drive home and it took several attempts to get the car in comp mode. couldn't get on the gas driving in rain or MPSC while in traffic I'm sure you understand. I called local GMC shop 100.40 for a sensor, Not going to happen, so it doesn't look good.
