Never put freon back in when I got my new motor and need to. Can I do this myself or should I just pay the dealership? If I can do it myself, how and what is the capacity? Thanks
2003gmc If you do not have a vacuum pump to evacuate the air and more importantly the moisture that is in the system, take it to a local automotive a/c repair place.
Properly filling an A/C system requires complete evacuation of all possible air, old refrigerant, and old lubricant to a specified vacuum and then an immediate refill with a specific amount of new refrigerant and oil to get specific pressures in the system.
Unless you have the required vacuum pump, gauge set AND the skill and knowledge of how to do it right you are much better off to let an A/C shop do it.
