Well since some of you all know 2 weeks after buying my vette something went wrong with the driveshaft it started off as a small part thay told me. Well thay updated me and said thay are replacing the whole thing. Is this a good thing? Thay said it takes a while due to them having to pull the trans out. Its been about a week since thay had the car. Im just wonder if it really takes this long? Why would thay have to replace the driveshaft? Could this lead to other problems ?thinks.
I have the same problem. Keep me updated. But on the other hand ... It shouldnt take a whole week to replace it. I dropped the whole rear end put a stall in and replaced in 6 hours without a lift. I can tell you it shouldnt take that long. I would be up their buts asking for my vette back.
You had a rear carrier bearing going bad probably. This happened on my 06, sounded like a can of marbles at idle. In my case it was one of the first failures so they requested the whole torque tube be sent back. Took about 3 weeks total.
My noise is only intermittant. Sometimes it doesnt even do it. I guess Ill have to keep looking 3 weeks sounds extreme to replace the torque tube though. Are they rebuilding it?

That is how mine started. I thought it was just a loose exhaust spring or something. Overtime it got worse. As to 3 weeks, I really can't comment, I got a new assembly. Maybe they had to wait until they had an extra assembly. Anyway in the end all was good.

Do you know of another place to get one at? My car is out of warranty and if this is the problem im going to have to start looking into replacing it.
I had a slight noise also at low rpm's and didn't know where it was coming from. With the process of elimination it came down to the driveshaft. When it came out it was a little twisted. Here is a picture of the driveshaft that was hitting the tube.

Provided the driveshaft is ok you don't need to replace the whole torque tube. Just the bearing can be replaced. At least that is the service tech told me. Mine was an early failure so GM wanted it back for diagnoses.
