Hey Joe Im amazed your car is holding together I hope you have 6k
set aside for an emergency, Trans rear etc... I blew a few my self.
I didnt want other people to go out and dump the clutch 6000rpm
Till they had the money and the knowlegde This was just to get these guys started. Thats why I said start off idle and move up 300rpm at a time, as they feel comfortable!

Yea good point, you have to learn to launch before you take it upstairs. I've seen a lot of blown rears at the track, usually from people dumping the clutch and almost always on street tires from wheel hopping. You have to run drag radials IMHO at the track or you are putting yourself at great risk. I've helped buddies replace transmissions too, typically from either overheating on the road course or from powershifting. That's why I won't powershift, I use the clutch.
The keys, I think, to longevity when racing are: 1. proper clutch fluid maintenance, 2. drag radials at 15 lbs of air or so, 3, learn to let the clutch take the abuse, it'll take it but the rear won't so don't dump the clutch under any circumstances, 4. if you wheel hop at all abort the run (I seldom wheel hop with 15 lbs and DR's), 5. get a DTE brace installed so if your rear goes hopefully you won't take the trans with it.
