clutch fluid contaminated?

I know the GM clutch fluid part # for my 02 was different than the # for my 08. I understand you are not supposed to use the old fluid where the new fluid is called for. I do not know if it is ok to use the new fluid in the older cars. If the old # was superceeded by the new # then it would seem to be be ok to use the new fluid in the older cars.

I use Prestone Dot 4 fluid from Walmart with no problem whatsoever. In my humble opinion, it's a waste of time to chase down the GM fluid.
