I have a 06 a6 that has had diff. Fluid changed 4 times. Still makes noise when making slow tight turns.dealer wants to install new clutch packs, car is still under warr. By one week. Does anybody know pros or cons about this repair??thanks
1st, make sure the differential has the new GM Dexron LS 85w-90 gear lube. This has fixed most differential clutch noise.
I had my clutches replaced before the GM Dexron LS 85w-90 gear lube was available. Ths fix lasted only about 5,000 miles. The GM Dexron LS 85w-90 gear lube seems to be a permanent fix.

Cablemasters: My car is at a large gm dealership, last diff. Fluid was done last month. Ls85w-90 was used, how many miles have you put on since your repair was done.how long in shop for repair.
Hitman; why a second bottle, and was this the dealership's idea to to fix problem??

I now have about 15,000 miles with the new Dexron LS 85w-90. All is well.
My car was in the shop at 7,500 miles for BOTH a replacement clutch and the replacement of the differential clutch packs. The down time for these repairs was 5 working days.
Do it! They flushed my fluid two times and it came back both times. The third time they swapped out the packs and used the correct oil(assuming) and it has been trouble free for over a year. Also pushing over 500whp and not a peep coming out of it. Do it before your warranty is up. They did mine in less than a day.
