Question on paint
For some reason my rocker arms are scratched up pretty good under the car. Machine silver, even though you cant see them i want to touch up.
Can i just get some 600 grit and sand ,then find some paint to match in a spray can. I already used the matching paint brush from GM, that covers but not to good. Being under the car if i tape off good i think i can pull it off.

Remember if you try this to make sure the tape line is not visible when you are standing and looking at the car because it will show. The spray can paint will probably not match perfectly, or have the same gloss as the factory paint. You will probably be better off dusting the paint on, rather than trying to wet it if you go this route. Ultimately if you attempt this and are not happy with the results you can remove the fresh paint with some urethane grade reducer. The sooner you begin removal the easier it will be. The reducer will slightly dull the old finish, but a good polish will bring it back up. You would also be wise to clean the area you want to paint with a wax/grease remover available at your local automotive paint supply store. If you are just dusting the paint I would not sand the area with 600. If you do that and are not happy the reducer trick will not work because once the new paint is removed you will still be left with 600 grit sand scratches.

How did the rocker "panels" get so scratched up? I wouldnt sand and pray with a rattle can. First off they are clear coated on top of the color coat. You really dont want to remove that. Second, its hard to get it to blend well and wont be long before it starts peeling. Since you really cant see it down there I would clean well to remove any wax and touch up(several light coats) with the GM touch up paint. After allowing it to cure well polish and wax.

I have no idea how it happened. Had the car in the air 3 weeks ago not a mark. Had it up yesterday, while i was fooling around with the brakes. Thats when i was like WTF is this. No clue, and i would of remembered something like this. I was out there this morning and used some blob eliminator. It helped but i'm pretty **** about the car. Good thing is you cant see anything until she's up in the air. My friend manages a Nissan store and i think he has a guy who will come to the house and do the touch up right there. Might give this a try. It cant hurt.
