help reseting codes
excuse a C5'er for infringing on your Forum but I'm at the Aelia Island concours and met a C6 Z06 owner who has a code that the dealer said would "go away by itself in a hundred miles or so".
So we got into a discussion of how I can reset a diagnostic code on my C5.
Now, some of you guys must have had a C5 before you got your C6 and I'm hoping you might tell me if there is a similar proceedure for the C6.

with ModshackHowever, some transient things that set the CEL/SES will reset on their own after a certain number of "drive cycles".
If the fault doesn't exist anymore, sometimes disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes may clear the CEL.
If he does disconnect the C6 battery, the only thing he should have to do when he hooks it back up is to re-index the windows.
BTW, you can borrow a scan tool at many auto parts stores (Advance Auto). You can also buy a good one at Wal Mart for about 70 bucks. Make sure he knows he needs a CAN capable OBD II tool. Not a bad thing to have in your tool chest.
