Default Trying to replace the AC condensor

after my extremely bone headed move in damaging it during the CAI install. Quick question, the cooler on an 08 Z51 that is black and small in front of the AC condensor on the driver's side, is that the extra oil cooler (looks like an ATF cooler)? If so, can I simply unbolt it (recognizing I will lose some oil) to remove the shroud, or will air in there when I reconnect it cause problems? I have read all the shroud removal threads I could find, but none mention this cooler.

Your advice is much appreciated. Frankly, since it bolts through holes in the shroud, I see no other options. Thanks.

Brian

You don't need to remove the shroud to get the condenser out. The upper radiator support comes off. Then there are 2 black push-in retainers (1 on each side) that hold the shroud to the condenser. Remove those retainers and pull the shroud forward. When you have the 2 AC lines disconnected then you can pull the condenser straight up.

Thanks. I was replacing the shroud anyways due to my CAI screw up. I got it all apart and am returning everything back. Any suggestions on the best way to tighten the two lines going into the oil cooler? Big nuts and no space.

You shouldn't need to remove the 'big nuts'. There are retaining clips that hold the oil lines into those fittings. Using a pick remove the clips and then pull the lines out.

Thanks GM Autotech. I ended up removing the nuts as I hadn't read your response first. A crow's foot did it, but not easily. I will avoid relacing the shroud at all costs again, but in the end it worked out.

Thanks for your help.
