Anyone successfully retrofitted an '08-'09 steering rack into their C6? These cars have speed-sensitive steering, don't they? I wonder if the software and/or hardware is interchangeable with the newer cars...
There is a thread on it somewhere....not sure but I think the conclusion was not doeable because of the software and PCM, Gene Culley was involved as he is a vendor for this part
you can do a search, but here is a summary, at least to my recollection.
The rack went out on my 05, so I started wondering the same. 1 member pm'd me that he swapped them out, but his car was a work in progress and he had never actually driven with the new rack. It will physically fit though.
Several others also had comments, and a couple had talked to engineers who said it wasn't a good idea, as their were software changes as well as hardware, plus the replacement racks for the earlier ones had the same physical upgrades.
In the end, I went with DRM bushings and the correct rack.

Tell me what you think of the DRM bushings. I have a set out in the garage begging me to get off my sorry backside and put them in.
Truthfully, and this isn't knocking DRM in any way whatsoever, but I don't drive the car regularly enough to know if there was a change or not. I do track days, but maybe 2 or 3 a year and other than that, between flying for my airline and powdercoating, the car just mostly sits in the garage, as I don't have time to actually use it on a regular basis.
The relatively low cost of the upgrade however, especially compared to the 1600 dollar charge at the dealership, was insignificant, and I wanted to get something out of spending that much money!

Guess I'll have to be the one to provide a review, coming soon. It will be a pretty good one as I have added poly bushings for control arms and sway bars, plus a custom alinement to improve turn in and overall feel and handling. The DRM bushings will hopefully solve my last little **** complaint.
