Gear options for an A6
Have people been doing 3.90 in the A6? Seems like ALOT of gear for that trans. Thoughts? I'm on the fence about doing gears.....

Haven't seen that yet, but some 05s with an A4 do that.
3.15 and 3.42 are popular choices for the A6.

Talk to Chuck at Corvettes of Westchester (COW). He has had great success with lower gears behind the A6 trans.

No, I haven't heard of anyone doing 3.90s (in an A6) and yes it is A LOT of gear.

A cammed car might just be able to get away with 3.73s if the converter slip isn't too bad. with 300 rpm slip you could just about trap 124 in 4th at 7000 rpm. Add a little bigger tire and you're golden.

no magic. There are several gear calculators available. I use this one as it builds a table and copy them into Excel.
