i have a 2008 ls3 and was wondering if i should get my factory intake manifold ported or just buy a fast?????
thanks
First of all you're looking at a big price difference. I didn't gain anything on my ported L76/LS3 intake. But I did notice better throttle response and a little more torgue on the dyno. I have the L92/L76. Although, the numbers could be differenct for a LS3. Everybody is still waiting on the FAST.
And the FAST isn't exactly putting up great number either for the LS3.
This is from their product catalog "Testing on a stock LS3 engine with a Big Mouth 102mm Throttle Body™ produced gains of 14+ horsepower and 11ft/lbs of torque at the flywheel over the stock intake."
There isn't a 102MM fly by wire TB, yet. This is BHP, not RWHP. There may be some more gains for those running high flow heads and cams, only time will tell. I think it did +30hp/25tq for the LS7.
how involved is porting of the stock ls3 intake?? What would a good shop charge to do the work, or are there folks on here who do it?
There are several CF vendors that do it. Cory Harris (LS2 Portworks), SpinMonster, (Guy), Myhardtop, (Carlos). Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head...

is there a core charge, or do you actually send your intake out and have your car down while you wait??

Hello Mr. Warrior,
I can port your unit for $200 w/o core. You simply send me the units and then it is ported...if in by noon, then it is out that day evening. Otherwise it leaves the following day by Noon.
I am currently out of cores, our core prices is $725 ($525) is refundable upon returning your stock unit.
Please let me know and remember, we have been porting LS-series intakes dating back to 2002 and never ever had any issues.
