Default Headers - what to buy?

I'm looking for headers... can anyone recommend? I've noticed most go with long tube... what's the advantage going long tube, and should I absolutely go longtube?

My car is an 06 Coupe MN6, Vararam, B&B Bullets & getting a new cam/headwork/tune in the next couple weeks (I just need to pick the right profile, as I want it lumpy, but I still want low-end power)

any advise would be appreciated

thanks

I think you should go with LG Pro's...they give the best power

You will get many different opinions with this question. I have AR (american racing) long tube headers and love the results. There are other good, reputable headers out there.

Nobody runs shorty headers, as there is very little power gain. If you are planning to race the car, or want to squeeze every last bit of power out of the car, American, Kook's, and LG Pro's all have their fans. For a street/strip warrior, you might want to consider a 1-7/8" headers, otherwise stick with 1-3/4". Some guys prefer coated headers (such as Jet Hot) as it keeps underhood temps down, and exhaust temps up (for greater velocity). Coated headers also look nice under the hood.

Other popular choices are B&B, Billy Boat, Dynatech, and Melrose.

You can often find a good deal in the C6 Parts forum.

Another factor is whether you plan to install yourself, or pay a shop to do it. Some shops will only install the headers that they sell.

Denis,

Quite frankly, all headers will give you a nice return on your invesment. At this point look at the quality, price, fitment and customer service.

Considering your present and future mods, go with the LT headers...in the long run they will give you the most flexibiliity.

We can gladly sell you a set of American Racing Headers system with a price at or less than the next vendor and with FREE shipping!!!

I hope this helps.

The last information I have read is there are no short tube headers for the C6. Callaway was the only one making them and do to no demand they were discontinued. In addition no headers for the C6 are CARB approved.

Oh yeah,

The Bully like our QM600 cam is becoming the pace setters for others to match or follow.

To this date, I do not think there is another bump stick out there that gives you the flexibility of civility, power and torque with great drivability. When I say torque I mean, this bump stick is capable of producing torque as good or better than bigger cams and bigger cams even with ported head!!!

Please see some of the dyno sheets below. The fatness of the torque is great and you can feel it on the streets.

Thanks,
Carlos

Those dyno sheets aren't cam-only are they?? Or are they from a Z06?

WHat gains could I get with that cam & head porting on my LS2?

thanks for the quick reply

Yes, those are cam only for a Z06. Typically, you can slap in a mild cam such as the Bully in a C6Z and see gains between 35 and 48 rear wheel torque and horsepower.

Regarding the LS2 application, that is a great question, I never tried it on a LS2 but it should work and make great power especially with ported heads and with some milling...like 0.20.

Please let me know if this interest you and will ship it for free and offer you free tune up through my HP tuners direct to your HP tuners if you have it or to your favorite tuner.

The cam kit comes complete with dual springs, new viton seals, new locks, new keepers and new Ti retainers and of course the cam. All for only $689.95 shipped!!!

And remember, it is very streetable and yet violent when you mash the loud pedal.

Here is a idle and drivability clip of the cam in a Z06
