Yes - I bought a set of Z06 mufflers from a forum member who had 2 1/2 inch over the axle pipes welded to the cans where they neck down. They bolted up fine - not quite as loud as I would have thought but definately better than stock. Look into the M2W to control the valves and you're set to go. Good luck.
Thanks, thats what I thought would need to be done. So what if I keep the valve open all the time? Is that an issue?
I keep mine open all the time except when my wife is with me on the highway and the drone gets annoying. There is significant drone at 1400-1700 rpm - in town you can shift around it easily but cruising on the highway is more difficult. There is nice burble on decel if you like that (I do) and it sounds pretty good when you go WOT.
I just completed the swap. I had the muffler shop cut off my 2 1/2" over axle pipes and weld them onto the Z06 mufflers.
I have headers and they do have a nasty drone 1500-1700. So you have to come up with a way to close the butterflies. (they are open with NO vacuum applied)
I used Sunset Orange Creations RPM/DIC/Remote controller to control the valves. I set the butterflies to open at 2800rpm, or they will open with a push of the DIC reset button. And when I want to show off the sound outside the car, I hit the remote button.
