Header install questions

1. I've heard I should expect to get a CEL and codes thrown because the O2 sensors get relocated. Will a retune fix this?
2. Are the gaskets that come with the headers better than the OEM gaskets? I've heard they are similar if not the same in design.
3. I currently have Borla Sport (Stingers) installed. Will there be an increase in exhaust note? I don't care about it being louder just curious if it will be.
4. Will there be any noticeable HP gain?
My Vette is a 2006. The only other mod is a Hurricane air box.
Thanks for any and all replies.

You'll also experience some initial minor exhaust smell every time your start it until the cats come up to temp.
Your neighbor across the street can clear the code/s for you
although it will come back eventually. He can also permanantly "tune out" those codes if you want although you really want to get a full tune. One possibility on your tune to think about especially considering where you live and the lack of any local tuning expert...If you choose to go the "mailorder tune" route your neighbor has HP Tuners that can datalog your car for you and provide that file along with your factory tune. You can forward those two files to one of many forum vendors who offer the mailorder tune service. I think the going rate is about $150-$200 for that option. Charlie at RPM and Carlos are the first two that come to mind that offer the service. The beauty being you don't have to travel beyond your driveway to get it done!
Carlos' recent post on his service... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...-help-you.html
Oh...forgot to mention you'd need to cover the cost of my two HP Tuner credits to license your VIN..about $100.00
Use your factory GM gaskets...best choice. Sound wise, slightly louder and a bit more mechanical noise but I think it's music to the ears..not noise.
Give "AWARE02" a shout...he's been down this path and will be glad to give you a few pointers.
Good morning neighbor!

I don't care what anyone says...get a custom dyno tune. Don't mess around with a mail order tune...If you are going to spend money, spend a little more and get the most out of your car........Yes, a tuner can eliminate your rear O2 codes.
Here are a couple vids of my car before my build with your same exhaust setup (LG LT's / Stingers). At the time of these vids, it only made 380 hp....But, you'll get the idea of how that exhaust combo sounds.

2. people choose to use the OEM gaskets.
3. The exhaust note will change.
4. There will be a hp gain, but this should be most noticeable after a tune.

Good morning neighbor!

I just turned off my rear O2 sensors becuase of the codes. And Yes I also used new OEM gaskets as well. No leaks for a year now.

My Crystal Red Metallic looks a lot better clean. Had to drop it off at Karl's in the rain so the car is in serious need of a bath and detail job. Do me a favor and tell Karl to get right on that if you would. Also tell him two coats of Zaino will be just fine.
Gotta check the forum you know!..even after 8hrs/500km through the Austrian, Italian and Bavarian Alps today! Started off snowing through the first two hours and then dropped to a clear and a million view down through the valleys in Italy. Took 8 hours for the route I chose! I think I paid the Italians about $25.00 in toll road fees and they had the worst roads of anywhere I've ever been. Anyhow, now sitting at Edelweiss downing my second beer for the evening while the wife hits the souvenir shop.
The rental car I have (diesel 5-speed wagon) has been knocking down about 500 miles to the gallon (correction...make that 500 kilometers per liter) give or take a few! It isn't going to win any drag races but man is it stingy at the pump.
The Garmin 770 I bought has been priceless!!
Zugspitze tomorrow...later.
