Default Removing Fuel Rail Covers....Tools?

In all the threads I could find, some speak of a specific tool to remove the fuel line in the FRC. I'd like to remove this line for my FRC replacement, and not try to heat and bend my new FRCs for replacement as some suggest.

Anyone have any info on what is required (tool, size, etc) for removing that fuel line?

Thanks!

I wrapped some glad wrap around the fuel line to keep from scratching up the new fuel rail covers. No problems here. You could tape around the line as well with painters tape.

The best way is to just disconnect the fuel line with the Auto Zone tool. You can bend and twist the cover to get it on but you will need to tape the fuel rail cover to keep from severely scratching them. I can tell you in cold weather this is not easy without heating the cover with a hair dryer or heat gun.

Default Fuel Rail Cover Removal

I use the fuel line remover tool. It is much easier. I recently had some custom work done on my car. My painted cover was cracked when I picked the car up. It was evident that the mechanic did not use the fuel line tool. I hope this helps you in your decision.

Use a fuel line removal tool as noted above and wrap a rag around the fixture when pulling it off as some gas may come out. There is also a clip on the fixture you need to remove first, it is easy.

3/8" Says so right on the retainer clip for the line (on an '08)

I use the little blue plastic clips. It is a PITA, but works.

Yep 3/8" fuel line removal tool.. The one I bought is double ended and has two different sizes. You have to remove that little retainer clip first, then clamp it around the fuel line and push it back into the fitting. It's kind of hard to explain but once you do it you'll see it's very easy. Oh, let the car cool off over night first if you have driven it because some fuel will come out.

I used the one at the top left:

You can pull the fuel pump relay and try to start the car to take the remaining fuel out of the line - most of it, anyways...

Painters tape over the covers and if an early '08, remove the line into the fuel block (with a deep 19mm socket)

Okay, last question...Do you remove the line from under the rail, or from where the line goes into the firewall?

The location under the fuel rail seems hard to access.

Do the clips fly off and come loose? Or do they stay attached to the line?

Help!

You remove the line under the FRC. Just lift it up and you will have access to the coupling. As others have suggested, you should use a rag around the fuel line where it goes throught the FRC to prevent any scratches.

There is a small plastic cap at the end of the fuel rail (toward the front). Remove this cap and there is what looks like a valve stem insert on your wheels (where you put air in). Lay a rag under this area and push the pin, this will relieve the fuel pressure and a little amount of gas will come out, hence the rag.
