For point of reference, I live in that Communist State in the Midwest called Illinois. I picked up my new 2009 Corvette last Wednesday. Sunday I was at the local golf dome and didn't have the Vette since it was snowing. I did have some pictures on my digital camera and was showing them to some of the guys and one of them said that the fine for no front plate is going up to $200. He works for the City of Chicago and I thought he was just being a killjoy but let it go. After I got home I was thinking about what he said and a little light bulb went on. I think I figured out the reason for the increased fines. In a word...CAMERAS.
If you run a toll booth your picture is tken; same with a lot of red lights.
I also read that on certain expressways there are going to be cameras to catch speeders. Other than the stick-on bracket that came with the car do you folks have a solution? I did hear about a bracket that allows the plate to swing up out of sight for shows or whatever but can't find it. Or should I just bite the bullet and put the darn thing on the front of the car?
I've only been a member of this forum for a few days and already have found it to be very informative. I'm sure that one of you more experienced Vette owners will have an answer that I can live with. Thanks, Yello9

Some vehicles don't even have a way to mount a front license plate. How will they nab them with cameras? Anyway, I think it's a terrible requirement. Sigh . . . I moved here from FL where there was no front license plate. I'm just going to pay the fine if I'm caught.
I haven't run a front plate on any of my cars since 1998. I've been stopped 2 times for it. Both in my 2000 Saleen, and both times the cop was just being an ***, and it was in Davis (a college town, I was 20 and had a Supercharged Saleen mustang...do the math).
There's NO WAY i'm putting a front plate on the c6. Heck, I had the car for 11 months before I even put a license plate on the rear...
My friend has been driving his Range Rover since he bought it in 2006 and still doesnt have a license plate on it!
Did you get a ticket? I realy don't want to ugly up my baby with a plate. Mine is in the front window till I get a ticket. I also don't want to drill holes into her.
they could this by making special stylish license plates for corvettes and other nice cars id pay extra for it im sure u guys would 2 besides it should be illegal to mess up the looks of an american legend liek the corvette its just a sin
the topflight one has a removable bracket with no holes/drilling thats the one im going to order because NY is another communist state with their front plates
