Default Halltech killer bee

recently installed the killer bee on my base 08 ; got it as a package deal with diablo tuner but did not bother to order the beehive. Now after looking into the beehive i was considering ordering the part but is not sure if its worth the price and how it performs vs killer bee alone. Anyone do the same thing and were you happy or dissatifyed with the results of using the beehive vs just the killerbee. Just making an attempt to see weither it is worth it to purchase this peice of if that money would be better spent toward picking up a short shifter

Just accept that in the long run you are going to buy all that stuff anyway

If you want a true CAI you will need the Hive & cut the shroud &/or add the Vette-Air as I did. Will the sotp butt-o-meter be able to tell, maybe...

After all, the whole point of a CAI is to get cold/ambient air into the motor.

so you did the vette air along with the beehive instead of cutting the holes they tell u to cut with the beehive ? or just the vette air with the killer bee

I installed the Killerbee, Beehive & Vette-Air all at the same time. I used the Vette-Air template when I cut the shroud.

Yes I did! The beehive shroud keeps the IATS cooler by keeping engine temps from entering the intake. Once the IATS reach 86 degrees the ECM starts to pull timing back which reduces hp. I also recommend cutting the two openings at the bottom of the shroud for true cold air (see Halltech's website for instructions). It's not so much what hp you gain, but what hp you may lose. Is it worth the money? It depends what you want more a shfter or cooler IATS? I vote cooler IATS.

Well put Mike Cooler temps means less timing fluctuations and thus more stable power delivery.

As Mr. Darkside said, all three will offer the best power by:
a) Vette-Air: injecting a much higher air velocity
b) Killer Bee: allowing greater volume of air
c) Beehive: houses all the injected air into a coffin for greater, deeper breathing and it also seperates the engine warm air.

All in all, cooler air eguals better power especially once on the road and NO worries about water!!!

I OFFER FREE SHIPPING!!!!

And painting is only an extra $89 if you want some bling

Thanks,
Carlos

Had the bee for a while but the increase in power is not all that much. Want to feel some power, install a SC.

If the Beehive is unattractive to you just install the Vette air first, at least you will be getting cold when you car is in motion. The Beehive helps keep the temps down at idle. Take it one step at a time, you can always add the Beehive later. Good Luck!

Great advise Mike.

Mr. Joe08C6, if you buy the Killer Bee and Vette-Air from me, you'll get a package deal plus free shipping. If you later decide to buy the Beehive, I'll ship it for as well. No need to buy all at once, we will work around your budget and/or your needs

Thanks,
Carlos

I was an early LS3 vette air killer bee combo customer. At the time, the hive had not been introduced.

I added the hive as soon as it became available, and insulated the rear wall of the airbox, facing the front of the car following guidance by "modshack". Intake temps are way down, and we know that is a good thing.

I'll add an additional benefit of the Beehive.

d) beehive: Due to the huge volume of air the vette-air scoops up the beehive keeps the engine bay cleaner by keeping the dust in the coffin

I think Modshack's thread inspired the Beehive, if I remember correctly

Halltech-Is that "whatever" material surrounding the intake known as the "beehive"?

How about a pic here too of the "cutting the two openings at the bottom of the shroud for true cold air". Or will the "free air mod" do the same trick too?
