Looking for an aggressive exhaust that doesnt blow me out on the freeway.
Any help would be appreciated.
Fusions. I love them. Nice deep baritone sound and with the flaps open, still bearable on the hwy. With the flaps closed, no problems, negligible drone.
Do a search. After you've absorbed all of the valuable info avialable on this wonderful site, find a set of NPP muffs along with a controller and have the best of both worlds exhaust wise. Quiet when you want it that way. Push a button (or just mash the go pedal if you have it plumbed that way) and have all the exhaust music you could want. One of the better mods I've done to my vette.

Old Fart,
Our Borla S-Type mufflers, commonly referred to as Borla "Stingers," are definitely on the aggressive side. They produce a deep, throaty, natural engine-born growl that has found favor with many Vette enthusiasts. There are several examples of our exhaust on YouTube if you'd like to search it. Keep in mind that the online video/sound quality is not always the best, but it gives you a general idea:
Another suggestion is to ride/drive with someone who already has the exhaust. Be sure to ask what, if any, other mods they have. You'll want to compare apples to apples. An exhaust note is not just a sound from outside, it's the feel of the vibrations inside, and the build-up of adrenaline when you nail. It's not an experience you can duplicate on the internet! Happy exhaust searching & let me know if you have any other questions. My direct line at Borla is 805-246-6000.
I just ordered the magnaflow complete kit and will have it all on this weekend....I will post some clips..hope it sounds good. My vette has six hundred miles on it and already changing the exhaust!!
I have to say this is one mod you MUST go for a ride in the car that has the exhaust you are considering. First off, I read the other entries and two of them are, to me, absolutely insane sounding on the hiway and I would rip my hair out if I had to endure them. Yet, the recomendations were there for these exhausts as civil sounding.
Subjective opinions like that arent going to tell you what you will like.
As a minimum I have to tell you that other mods will make your car louder. Headers and a cam will be the two that can push the sound over the edge.
I have the Z06 exhaust and cant stand it in the open position for long and since they really choke the motor when closed (how I opt to drive my car 95% of the time) I am going back to the stock exhaust. My average power output would be higher then.
I have every mod there is heads, cam, nitrous, supercharger, headers, ported everything, and dont want to hear noise if I make the same power without it.
What exhaust would i tell you to get? The NPP or Z06 exhaust so you can turn off the noise on the hiway. They are insanely loud with cammed cars and headers flaps open. Keep in mind with minimal mods, exhausts make no real contribution to power output. Chnage the exhaust when it makes power to do so and you have a better idea what noise your car will make with the mods you end up with before you get an exhaust and regret it after the next few mods.

To select the sound (loud vs soft) of the various aftermarket exhaust systems is a matter of personal taste. As you can see everyone has an opinion based on their likes and dislikes, however, you are the one making this decision and not them.Several of the aftermarket suppliers have sound bites on their web sights so as to give you a feel for the actual sound of their product, just keep in mind that with additional mods (cams, headers, and x-pipe) the sound will be amplified....personally I like the sound of "POWER".
