Default Traction problem???

I keep reading threads where guys are going back and forth about loosing traction when you gear the car. There seems to be even more opinions on what is the "correct" way to fix the problem. I'm not trying to get anyone worked up here, I just want to know if sounds like I'll have a traction problem or not. Here is what's being done to the car right now......

Stage 2 CNC Ported LS-Series Cylinder Heads
Stage 2 Camshaft
Kooks 1 7/8" x 3" Longtube Headers
Kooks X-Pipe w/ Hi-Flow Catalytic Converters
Wideband 02 Bung
Halltech Cold Air Intake
GM MLS Head Gaskets
GM Exhaust Gaskets
ARP Head Bolts
Hardened Pushrods
NGK TR5 Spark Plugs
3.93 gear
rear wide body conversion w/ 345 nitto invos

My car is an 2005 w/ the z51 option. I'm guessing I'll be making around 440rwhp? If anyone thinks I will have a traction problem with the current set up, could I just put some different tires on it to fix the problem. I've read lots about going 18" with the rear wheel widened on all 4's. That would have been great to read before I pulled the trigger with the rear wide body conversion (live and learn I guess ). I got to drive the car after the performance mods were complete (before the wide body and new tires were put on, that's still in progress) and was spinning like crazy. granted it was 45 degrees out on cold runflats. Thanks in advance

If you still have traction problems after you get the 345 invos, I'm screwed.

lets see, you have the car and drive it, and you don't know if your not hooking up? OH I'm sorry I just read where this is just your wish list and now you expect us to have a serious discussion on a car that does'nt exist, oh brother!

Easy fix. Adjustable QA1's for the rear & M&H 325X45X17 drag radials. I'm got at least 4K miles on my tires. I've also got a set of CCW 14" T10's with Michelin PS2's - 345 rears & 285 fronts for sale. No more than 1500 miles on the set. $4,000.00 includes shipping.

I think you misread. It's not a wish list, it's what I had done to the car. After the performance mods I turned the car in the have the wide body conversion. Being the reason that I don't know if I will have the same traction problem. And that would be the whole reason I asked the question I did. I guess in your eyes I must have mad a bad assumption thinking guys like you (senior forum members that have read about a million threads and probably know more than I do about these cars and their set ups) might have seen a similar set up and be able to give an opionion. My bad........

A typical H/C car will have issues being floored with any street tire.

I have 700rwhp with a Z51 and 4.10's and with MT ET street 305/35/18's on an 18x11 wheel, I have no traction issues.

I've read a lot of your threads where you talk about widening the wheel. I would have done that had I read it before I got too deep in my rear wide body conversion. So if I understand you correctly, you're saying that even with the 345 nitto invos ill still have a traction issue?

Your list looks like the Livernois Motorsports stage 2 package. Thats what I have on an 07 m6 with 390's. The stock tire will spin like crazy at any temp. I went with the LG wheels 18x10 and 19x11 and z06 rubber. First this was not the best choise of tires but seeing as you haven't got that far, you have a real advantage over me. Second, the z06 rubber works for me when it's dry, sunny and over 75 deg. Hooks up well and sometimes some wheelspin at 5500 rpm. At 50 deg. or less it will spin in the first three gears. 345's should do it for you, also consider 305's. Lot of free info here, lots of people seem to like the Nitto and Toyo brands. They should work at your hp level. I'm at 450/405. Good luck.

Good catch....Livernois is where I had the work done. They're are some good people there. You happy with the performance you got from that package? Like I stated in my original post, I did get to drive it briefly after they were done. I do stress briefly, about 10 minutes or so. If you're hooking up fairly well with what you have, hopefully I'll be about the same.

Livernois did an excellent job with my package, the car was really fast except the 0-30 range, tried 410's but there seemed to be a problem with the gears so went with the 390's. That took care of the 0-30 problem. Love the gears and the car is more fun to drive. Gears got completed in Nov. 08, so I haven't been able to test it much. Got 800 miles on them so they should be broke in now. Also have the stock tires and rims on for winter so there is little traction. It's easy to drive just can't get in it much. You have a great choise of tire options out there. With the wide body I suspect you'll want the 345's for looks and the should be ok for your power level. With the 390's city mileage is about the same, highway dropped 2 mpg. Getting 28-29 hwy at 70-80mph. Let me know what tires you with and how you like them.

I don't thin you will have a much of a traction issue, with 450rwhp and 345 nitto's.If you do a slightly softer compound might help. Maybe take a look at Nitto NT-05's..
