So yeah, I know this isn't exactly performance, but I'm looking for ways to deepen the sound without removing my NPP (because I use my exhaust commander to switch it to quiet mode from time to time) and without voiding my warranty (so headers are out).
It's not clear to me if switching to another intake would change the overall sound as heard from either the cockpit or outside the car (I have a vert so they are both the same anyway). I figure you savvy folks in the tech forum will know the answer to this.

Thanks in advance!
I have observed a "slight" change in exhaust note with a K+N filter and CAI. Not enough change to do it for that reason. Do the CAI for performance, any exhaust note improvement is then a bonus. I think Pipedreams makes something that allows for adjusting the closed position on the NPP. That might do the trick for you.

Install a set of exhaust manifolds and cats from a Z06 and you should have deeper sound...I have a Vararam SC1 and I think it sounds a little like a turbo spinning up...but that is overridden by my Z06 exhaust system sound...
The FAST mani will give you a purr from the engine bay. The first few days after install I thought I did not like it but it grew on me and I think it is very cool. Exotic sounding.

Hmm, I didn't even think of this! Looks like it will be affordable, too. That's what makes this forum so awesome. Then if I want more I can get long tubes in a couple of years, provided I don't move to a state with visual inspection.
If you are concerned with the tapping noise coming from changing to a FAST intake, listen from the interior of a FAST equipped car before you install the FAST.

Actually I didn't know about a tapping noise; thanks for the info.
