Default traction ABS handling system problem

hi all,
i had front end accident on my Z06 2006. i have the car repaired and now im getting message on DIC (service handling system , service ABS system, service traction system, service the car soon.)
how can i reset the system since one wheels sensor was damage and i had it replaced.

there is DIY procedure to reset the system since i don't want to take the car to the dealer.

looking for immediate response

Some will tell you that by disconnecting the battery for a few mins and reconnecting it should do the trick of whipping the codes. I tried this before and it only cleared my engine codes. Did not clear any active handling codes. Give it a try and see what happens.

I recently dealt with this very same problem but for a slightly different reason - right after I did the engine swap on my car I got the same three messages on my DIC.

Disconnecting the battery didn't help because if the light stays on continually it means the problem is still there and wasn't just a one-time occurence. Also, if you have an OBDII code reader it won't help either because the codes get stored in the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) rather than the PCM.

I took the car to the dealership and they brought a TechII scanner out to the parking lot in an attempt to clear the codes but as soon as they did that they popped up again almost immediately. The scanner did however indicate that there was an apparent problem with the right front and right rear wheel sensor so I decided to bring the car home and see if I could troubleshoot the cause.

I disconnected the harness from the EBCM (it's the big cable that plugs into your ABS unit) and was able to test the continuity of the wiring for all four sensors and discovered that nothing was broken. I did however discover that the wiring harness got slightly pinched when I put the motor back in so I fixed that problem as well.

After turning the car back on the lights were still there but I was pleasantly surprised to see that they went off about 5 seconds after that. My best guess is that either the pinched harness was somehow causing the problem or disconnecting and reconnecting the harness from the EBCM may have made a better connection for the wiring pins. This may not end up fixing your problem but it's probably worth a shot.

Also, if you're mechanically inclined I can provide you with the pinout diagrams and instructions on how to test each of the wheel sensors to make sure they're working properly. The only additional tools you'll need are a multimeter and some electrical wiring.

Hope that helps,
Christopher
