Just F*** em up and buy a new set. If you put something over them I dont think you will be able to get the tire iron in there.

Mine are all jacked up and I just plan on buying a new set every so often. Its only 20-30 buck who cares.

always use a six point socket, not a tire iron or lug nut wrench

I just purchased the Harbor Freight lug socket and have to say the plastic protection is only on outer part of the socket and inside at the point. Not on the sides of the lug socket. So, if you don't have a lug socket and need one buy it. Otherwise, I wouldn't spend the cash for it as it still marks up the lugs.

I would suggest their US General jack for $89 which is the lightest and cheapest to carry to the track.

and your point is?

take a good look at the socket, better yet measure, not all are the same size, some are quite loose, which is usually the case with a tire iron

Also, you want a 19mm socket, not 3/4".

If you get a 6 point deep socket that fits well, you should not have a problem damaging the lugs. Also, always hand torque them. Do not use an impact.
