I'm sure this topic has been discussed time and time again. Can anyone explain (or provide a link explaining) why the Nav radio sound quality sucks? I remember briefly reading about this topic before I bought a C6 with the factory Nav. Now I see what the fuss is about. What upgrades work well with the factory Nav (speakers, etc.)?

Don't limit it to sound... The fact you cannot enter places on the go, is lame. I am asked all the time why I have a Garmin. Use a Corvette GPS for a week vs. a Garmin and you will know why
Although this link seems to be very informative (I will save the link and read it at a later date)....I don't think it talks about the sound quality or lack of.....unless I need to read further?

There is a fix for that - Do a search. Corvette/GM isn't the only make that does not allow entry on the move.

I would love to fix this. I don't have nav in the Vette but I have nav in my TBSS and I hate that. I understand the safety feature but don't they understand that people do drive with passengers? It's perfectly safe for them to type on the go. Can't they link it's function to the passenger airbag sensor or something? What a giant pain in the f*cking *** having to pull over to reroute or type in a new address.
If anyone has a link to a possible remedy for this, I would be very appreciative.
Meh - there are really two sources for NAV Data- NavTeq and TeleAtlas. Garmin makes great hardware (I had three aviation units) but they buy the NavData (aviation from Jeppesen). The Denso unit in the Corvette is essentially the same Denso that is used by a lot of other makers - like Lexus.....

That's good info. All but the Lexus part. Nothing impresses me about a Lexus

Just an example - but they do make good cars.... I have owned one and the wife has owned three and my daughter has owned one. No significant issues with any of the five.

Get a Magellan I have one.. and can just tell it "Go Home" and it will set the route.. if I'm on the move I can still hit "re-route" or change the route... Best investment I made... I loved it so much I bought a "refurbished one from Magellan" for my DD and love em...

I finally agree with you on something. I have a Garmin too...took all of one minute to learn it completely. Try that on the Corvette NaV.

I tried and am aware of the "fix". The problem is, unless you can edit all your changes on the fly in a minute, it reverts back to its normal mode of no edit on the fly. Then you got to go back again to edit it. Annoying.

I have a Magellan that stays in the Vette. I was hoping for a fix for the stock nav in the TBSS.
I would like to know..
How do you turn the D#@n thing off. After a destination has been entered so I can listen to the radio without interuptions.
You can cancel the route guidance. Now that you know that, you'll have to read the manual to figure out how it's done.
I'm in the Keys right now and while driving I noticed that the route selected wasn't the path I wanted to my daughter's house. While driving, I canceled the route guidance and selected a stored destination and rerouted on the fly. Reading the manual is such a simple thing.
Typical mid 90's computer geek thinking. Make it complicated so that the users will think we're smart. About as user friendly as a hand grenade with the pin pulled.
