Thought I'd buy a new air filter for my 08 vert. My friendly dealer said they'd sell me one for $129.00, if they had one. Decided I'd shop around some.
Is any one aware of a quality after market filter for a little less money?
Would appreciate any ideas.
Thanks,
Jim
I sell the ZR1 filter that will fit right in your LS3. It is a little more expensive but it offers better breathing than the stock one.
Possible to see a side by side pics of the two? Thanks.

Kinda like a lot of things, it really depends on where you drive and mileage. If you live in dust bowl city, it could be half the time of someone living in more pristine climates. Seriously, take a look at it every so often (like every 10K miles?). Just because it looks dirty, doesn't mean it needs to be replaced tho.
Thanks for all the input. I removed the filter to see how bad it was. It didn't look that dirty to me, even though I've been in some very dusty situations. It is one big filter! Also, in removing the housing I broke one of the plastic flanges which secures the housing. Couldn't figure out how to get the rubber grommets off that hold the housing (the right way).
Anyway, now I have a broke housing and don't need to change the filter after all. Any ideas on how to remove those grommets, properly, would be appreciated.
Thanks again for your suggestions.

In the center of the grommet there is a plastic pin that you can pull out with a needle nose pliers. You can also use a small screwdriver to pry it up. Once removed, the grommets come out easy.

In that case he should just get a CAI, if he wants better breathing. I think (correct me if I am wrong) there are some aftermarket intakes like SLP which cost around $200 (K & N filter included). And they are better than the stock intake snout.
