I managed to rash into the fiberglass the rocker panel below the drivers side door. How hard is it to remove and replace the panel, and what do salvage pieces usually cost? I'll be looking for victory red.
it's glued to the underside of the frame, which is a pain, but otherwise not difficult. Since removal usually ends up damageing the rocker (glue is really tough), finding a used one may be difficult.
Unless yours is completely destroyed, any decent body shop should be able to fill and repaint it.
The toughest part of the job is getting the old one off. The factory glue is a space age epoxy that costs $140 for a twin tube (small) that requires a special gun to dispense. You can use two screwdrivers to push it out and mix it up by hand. Putting the new one on is not difficult and the door can stay on but make sure you got the panel where you want it BEFORE you let it sit overnight. And don't let the cat near your clamps (experience).
