Hi guys, I want to change brakes on my 2005 C6. I've changed brakes on several cars...so I'm no newbie to the task. I have a '99 Camaro LS1 they I've changed the brakes on twice. This is my first Vette and I'm a little put off by all the sensors and such. Is changing the brakes anything special. Are there special sensors hooked up and such. Just checking before I tore into the job. I thot the same thing about my Camaro but I realized fairly quick there was nothing to it other than a standard four wheel brake job. Thanks guys!
Switched the rotors to my C6 to Z51's this weekend. No technbical challenges, just getting into the right position to torque the "abutment braqckets" to 125 ft lbs. Don't forget the blue threadlock on the same bolts and high temp grease for the pins.
Where there a will there's a way. Take your time and have an intimate moment.
Very easy to do on the car. You don't even need to remove the whole caliper on the front. You can just remove the lower caliper bolt and the caliper can be swung up. From there just swap the pads. You can take one of the old pads and use it to push the 2 pistons in at the same time using a disk brake caliper tool or c-clamp if you don't have the tool.
E-mail me if you need pictures, I'm actually going to be doing them tonight and I'll snap some pics.
Yea, they are the same way on my Camaro. Just take our one bolt and the caliper swings out of the way. I'm going to do it this weekend I think or maybe next week. I'm going with some ceramic pads to reduce brake dust and keep my wheels looking good In a few months I'll upgrade my rotors. I'm either going with cross slot drilled rotors unless you guys can tell me where I can get a good deal on some Z51s
