Battery Tender.

Battery Tender.
Need to store my car for a month. Should the battery be left in the car fully connected? I plan on using a Chicago Electric charger purchased from Harbor Freight. The box states "automatic charging will not over charge." Is this the correct set up and approach? I certainly don't want to do any damage.

I just disconnect the negative battery terminal. Stored for 4 months. Plugged back in and no problem so far after 2 seasons. If the battery is older it may not be able to keep the charge for very long without a tender.

If you're not going to drive the car for a month, you definitely need to either disconnect the battery or put a battery tender on it. If you don't, you'll drain the battery. I've not heard of the Chicago Electric charger. If it truly monitors the battery voltage and only supplies a charge when necessary, then it will work fine. I've used a Battery Tender on my Corvettes for several years now and its worked very well for me.
