Default Short throw shifter info needed

so yea.. I'm having problems going from 2nd to 3rd when..umm... I need to shift at a quicker pace lets say.. merging with traffic . LOL

I've seen the B&M ripper shifter, MGW, Hurst (old style? whats that)...

What do you prefer and why? What does a $300 shifter give me that a $190 (B&M) does not? Can I use the "flame ball" shift ball on it? (gift from the wife..) I know ..pics of wife, but this isnt CFOT.

All the reviews of the MGW have been great. It's what I'm probably going to purchase. You can use either a stock C6 shifter or the C5 thread size (if I remember correctly). You have to specify which you want or purchase the other part so you have the option to use either.

If you're missing third it's because you are pushing the shifter to the right when you shift from second and another shifter won't help that. Third is straight forward from second with no side pressure with the palm of your hand. Try that first.

I've had an MGW installed in my 08 for a year. My #1 favorite mod. Notched the fun factor up to a new level. I have no experience with any of the others, but cannot believe there is a better one. Customer service is top shelf.

Get rid of that loose, sloppy, POS stock unit. It's OK for casual use, but it does not take kindly to being pushed hard.

You will not regret it.

MGW Shifter is a very well built piece of equipment. I had one in my Viper. So, when I upgraded to the Vette its was a simple decision.

You will not regret it.

I see you are in San Antonio. I purchased the Viper from Gunn Dodge in SA. I do miss that city.

I just checked your profile and see that you have an 05. I agree that changing to a short throw shifter will make driving much more enjoyable. The original shifter is just too long. When I had my 05 I kept hitting the air conditioner switch to off as I went for third because the throw was sooo long. I went with the B&M and found it to be a major improvement. But still no side pressure going to third.

are the shifters pretty much the same? (b&m, mgw, hurst etc) ? Since i'll be using my shifter ball, it'll look the same but functionality between the 3 that I listed would be about equal, correct?

I will make you a real deal on a B&M, but it is junk compared to MGW I replaced it with.

Also, B&M customer service sucks.

I happen to have a Callaway short throw shifter and love it. Every manual trans car I have ever had has received this mod.

I love my shifter. It is your car, it is your choice as to which to use.

I found the B&M to be a major improvement over the stock unit but if I were doing it again I would go with the MGW based on the experience of this forum. Now if timd38 is giving his away, I'd consider that.

For performance, quality, price and service, you can not do ANY better than MGW .

I agree. I didn't like my stock shifter or the Hurst. I love the MGW.

05 and switched to a Callaway shifter. Right at the top of my favorite mods. For those with issues with occasional, random first gear lock out, it will not help that.

MGW here too, the 2nd-3rd shift is worth the price.

Make sure you don't have your shifter **** in a choke hold,I always shift from 2nd to 3rd with an open palm, pushing straight forward and the 1-2 and 3-4 with my fingertips....think GI Joe with the Kung Fu grip.
