Default Additional Oil Pressure Sensor?

Folks,

Does anyone have an idea of how I can put an additional oil pressure sensor on my LS7 so I can monitor with my Racepak G2X? I would like to monitor it while tracking.

Thanks in advance,
Bob

is there a plug on the pass side?
The one on the drivers side we use to prime the oil pump.

Thanks for the help.

Where would this plug be located? Can I just install a sensor there instead of the plug with no issue?

I think the one on drivers side comes from the pump and goes to the filter then to the rest.
It's on the left side forward just behind the timing cover

its an allen wrech plug!!

"T" fitting on the stock outlet with one side for the stock sender and the other for your gauge?

Why do you need another sensor??? Can't you just tap into the already existing one???

I don't know how the Racepak inputs work, but with my Traqmate data-logger it's very simple to add an analog sensor input to log along with all the other data.

I currently only have RPM and throttle position inputs into my Traqmate, but I plan to add inputs to monitor oil pressure and brake pressure, and maybe coolant temp.

For the throttle position, I just spliced a wire into the APP (Accelerator Pedal Position) sensor at the top of the pedal. Most all of the sensors use a 5 volt reference voltage and have something like 0.5 volts for zero pressure or temp (or no throttle) to about 4.5 volts for max pressure or temp (or WOT for the throttle position).

I plan to just simply splice a wire onto the brake pressure wire and the oil pressure wire, run them to the inputs on the data-logger, and set them up in the software. The only other thing I might log is coolant temp, but you can do steering angles and all kind of sensor inputs.

So.....we already have a sensor that is picking up oil pressure. Can't you just tap into the already existing sensor by splicing a wire onto the one coming out of the oil pressure sensor and running it to your Racepak???

Good luck,

Bob

Don't do that. Because the plumbing is relatively small, probably 1/8-27 NPT, the associated Tee fitting will be thin wall. Subjecting vibrations to the two oil pressure senders hanging on this flimsy aluminum or steel fitting will eventually cause the fitting to break, spewing oil all over and possibly risking engine damage. If you want to tap into this source, use a long enough flexible hose, -3 or -4, to a solid mount on the chassis securing the sensors and isolating them from engine vibration.
