I was hoping for tips and techniques on launching. I can't get this car down the track without breaking or the clutch pedal sticking. I've broke the rear case, output shaft, two half shafts and the bellhousing, I made some changes and now ready to test & tune. I swapped the drag radials for MT streets, lightened the car 200 lbs and put a remote bleeder for clutch valve.
CARTEK TUNE
Drag radial runs.
Half dozen runs with severe wheel hop and breaking parts.
QA1 Adjustable shocks eliminated wheel hop.
Best ET 11.04 @ 130.41 mph 1.75 60 ft 3500 rpm launch.
2nd ET 11.14 @ 131.00 mph 1.78 60 ft 3200 rpm launch.
3rd ET ? 1.57 60 ft 4100 rpm launch clutch pedal stock 3rd gear.
4th ET ? 1.54 60 ft 4200 rpm launch clutch pedal stock 2nd gear.
MT ET Street
200 lbs lighter
No track time yet. Thanks
I posted a reply suggesting you go to an automatic, I think it would be best for a high HP car that is breaking parts..I also had some other suggestions that were from VERY knowledge sorses... But some here "Think" they know MORE than race shops. & deleted my post last night...
Really pizzz me off.. not even a PM explaining WHY... Maybe he knows more than the NJ Tuner shops??

I like them (Mods) just removing posts because the don't agree.. I had a valid reply.. and its been removed...
you sound like you're doing what i would be doing, are you side stepping, popping or easing off like your taking off normal from a stop? i would try the latter as it will maintain traction and is easier on your drive train, on the shifts maybe slow the clutch release to be easier on eevrything.
How i launch:
1) get up to an rpm (depends on power/ tire)
2) let off clutch as if your just at a stop light only faster, adding gas to keep the rpms constant to the value in step 1
3) keep increasing the rpm in 1, and the rate of release in 2 until you spin
4) if you spin initially your rpm in 1 is too high
5) if you spin a second or two after moving your rate in 2 is to fast
6) if you bog add rpm to step 1
it seems elementary but you cant run before you can crawl

I have a habbit of side stepping the clutch for years racing another car. I've tried the ease off the clutch way and sometimes it bogs a little and sometimes it seems to hook better and not break anything. I guess this is the best technique for my combo. Thanks

My apologies if I'm wrong.. I do remember replying to your post, & "Thought" my reply had been removed... MY mistake I'm sorry if I offended any Mods....

Hi Chas...I think you should put this in the Z06 topic and seek the experts advice like Ranger, Jamie Furman, Doc Ron and M. Walter.

See what happens when you get "OLD"
You can always remove any of your posts by hitting "edit" and then
select "delete message". I do all the time when I make goofs.

Hey
I would like to put it on the Z06 topic. Does it matter if i'm running a C6 non Z06?
I decided to try the Nitto NT05 335/30ZR19'' street tire, it has a more forgiving sidewall and their similar to the Toyo R888 but not as sticky. I didn't think it was a good ideal to have the stiff sidewall with the wheel hop issue i was having. Thanks good advise

No problem. I saw you got rid of your seats for 70 lbs, do you drive
your car on the strip like Dennis does, using one of those low boy beach chairs instead?

I have two state of the art low budget Summit racing seats & covers that weigh 11 lbs for $60.00 each.
